Quyon, Quebec – Round 10 of the NCKC season held at Le Circuit Quyon was a wet and wild affair with the Karting Konnections team earning the pole in 4 of the 5 classes the team had drivers entered as well as podiums for 5 of the 8 drivers.
The drive of the day had to belong to Abby Bolton who put on a clinic for wet racing. Abby manoeuvred her Awesome powered Gold Kart to the pole position in qualifying, out pacing second by 1.6 seconds. Abby continued her dominance in the pre-final leading wire to wire for the win. Challenged in the early stages of the final, Abby steadily pulled away from the field and what looked like the youngsters first feature win quickly turned to heartbreak as a broken throttle spring with 3 laps remaining sent her spinning. Abby quickly recovered to assume the second position. Wasting no time, she regained the lead at the far end of the track when again tragedy struck on the last lap. The broken throttle sent the youngster spinning once again, leaving her with a fourth place finish. Team mate Rory Docherty (Awesome/Gold) stayed clear of trouble steadily working his way to a solid third place finish. Click here for the full story! |
